Robert Pattinson's "near death experience" [and how tabloids sell more stories by exaggerating]

RadarOnline.com Has this story about an incident with Robert Pattinson... let's remember that exaggeration sells and conflicting reports state it wasn't the fans, he wasn't hit, and apparently it isn't Summit's job to protect him it's the production company, (in other words stop blaming Summit) and so on....

I do not know what exactly went down as I wasn't there nor was anyone I know and trust.... (update at end of this post - a trusted sources report) but based on the story my opinion is - - - FANS.... back off, be respectful, and RPattz, have your reps get you one helluva better security team.... it's funny (not funny ha ha) that in retrospect VanCity wasn't too bad....

I mean Ashley Greene got "mad" that girls waited for him outside a resturant and his hotel and one fan allegedly chased him down an alley for a photo.... but ... compared to Italy antics and now NYC, VanCity was Nothing.... not to say Vancouver has "better fans" (which as biased as I am being from Vancouver may or may not be true) but that the RPattz hype is growing daily, and the reports and encounters are fueling other fans to give it a go and it's getting too quickly out of hand.... I really would like to see better security with Rob and not just in NYC, everywhere, I would have NO PROBLEM - in fact I would be pleased - to see Rob in Vancouver this August for Eclipse with a new and improved security team that kept him safe.

Anyways, enough about what *I* think ;)

here is the story:

Rob Pattinson is quickly learning the hazards of filming a movie in New York City - he was hit by a taxi cab on Thursday while running away from hysterical fans!

RadarOnline.com witnessed the Twilight star get clipped by a cab around noon in front of the Strand Bookstore on Broadway and 12th Street.

He was not hurt.

The 23-year-old London-born actor had been inside most of the morning filming scenes for his new movie Remember Me.

A team of five security guards were trying to fend off a crowd of teenaged girls when Robert was leaving the bookstore.

It was pouring rain as they tried to hustle him quickly across the busy street to the safety of his trailer.

Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Robert rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him. The cabbie slammed on his brakes as soon as he realized what had happened.

It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed and the fans: "You see what you did, you almost killed him!"

Pattinson will be shooting around Manhattan for the next four weeks.

His co-star in the film is gorgeous Lost TV actress Emilie de Ravin, who he has been seen hanging out with in the evenings.

Twilight Lexicon Reports that Summit has given official word which is:

“Rob Pattinson is fine, the reports are exaggerated and it was not caused by fans. Production continues ,” according to a Summit spokesperson.

We [Twilight Lexicon] understand that there are several sources reporting different stories but this comes directly from Summit. Also if you remember back to earlier this year there was a report Rob had hit his head and was injured which was also grossly misreported.

Somethings to keep in mind currently there is little Twilight Saga News to report so small stories become gigantic ones and if the name Robert Pattinson appears in story to tends to get more attention. It is also very important to remember that the actors are just people and deserve respect and privacy like any average person.

Now, I know and trust Twilight Lexicon - so if you choose to read into Lainey and Radar Online who are known for their exxagerations to sell stories... that is completely your perrogative.... Not that COmpanies, such as Summit, don't try to smooth things over in a diplomatic manner... but their "side of the story" is generally more truth than fiction in my opinion....I choose to seek the truth, whatever that may be.... sometimes it's hard to find...
